About SME PTSA
1. At SME, the PTSA works year round to bring fun, safe and educational projects to the students, parents, teachers and staff including the Freshman Link Dance in August, teacher appreciation lunches and treats year round, College Clinic in October, after finals celebration for the students in December, Valentine Candy/Carnation Sale in February, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Reflection and Citizenship Contest and of course the After Grad party for the Seniors in May. Throughout the year they're also helping teachers by giving out instructional grants to provide additional educational materials to assist with classroom needs.
2. The PTSA holds 4 General Meetings throughout the year where they highly encourage parents, teachers, and students to attend. The first General Meeting is scheduled for Aug 31 at 7pm. Some of the topics of this year's meetings include: Red Solo Cup: Real Talk, Teens, Alcohol, and Consequences, Teens and Mental Health, and Celebrating SME.
3. PTSA is only able to provide these school wide programs that enhance the Lancer community, through your membership dues. So, if you haven't joined yet, please consider doing so. Please note that the PTSA membership is not part of the SME dues paid online through Shawnee Mission School District. Below is the QR code to join PTSA, or you can find a link on the SME website under the PTSA tab. The PTSA greatly appreciates your support with your membership, time and attendance!
