AP Exam Registration and Fee Payment

The registration and payment deadline for May 2023 exams was November 1st, 2022.  Please reference this document for the step-by-step directions on how to complete the registration and payment process.  Students should have received their class join code from their AP teacher/s.  Please contact Counselor Jim Dusek at jamesdusek@smsd.org with any questions or concerns.

All Grade 10:

 PSAT (practice) or Locally-scored ACT (practice).

• Test room assignments and other test day details for 9th, 10th & 11th graders will be shared in October.
• Students should report to school by 7:30 am.
• Students will be released at 1:10 p.m. Lunch period will be from 12:40-1:10, with buses departing at 1:17.
• Students may not be released early during testing.

All Grade 11:

 The objective of the SMSD Strategic Plan is for each student to have a personalized learning plan that will prepare them for college and careers, with the interpersonal skills they need for life success. 

An important element of this goal is to identify and remove barriers to achievement so that all students have the opportunity to reach their highest success. With this desire for equity in mind, and in an effort to provide equal access for all SME students, only FREE test prep resources are posted on our website.

While some of the organizations listed below also offer fee-based test prep resources, the links below go directly to their FREE resources. Families who want to explore additional fee-based test prep may use web browsers, such as google, to search for local and national companies that offer ONLY fee-based test prep options.

Johnson County Library 
Has a variety of free college admissions and test prep resources from the LearningExpress Library.  Includes tutorials, practice tests and test prep eBooks.

The ACT
Registration site for the ACT. Also includes free test prep resources and test-taking tips.

The College Board
Official site of the PSAT and SAT. Includes free practice tests and links to free Khan Academy test prep, along with options for fee-based study guides and online courses. Also provides tips and study strategies and info on college search.

StudyPoint
Free virtual practice test events (take the practice test from your home). Anyone who participates will also receive a free score analysis that breaks down performance by section, question type, and content area to help prepare and review before taking the real test.

Union Test Prep
A small team dedicated to bringing the best test-prep material to everyone, free of cost.

FREE February 28, 2023 real ACT @ SME for SME juniors

SME is once again be hosting a FREE, REAL ACT (funded by the State of Kansas for all juniors in the state of Kansas)

• Who:  All SME juniors
   
• When:  Tuesday, February 28, in the morning, in person. (There are no online options for this exam.)
  • Juniors who are testing will be excused from classes on the morning of February 28. More details about testing locations and procedures will be shared in February.

• Cost:  Free!  
  • (Note: this is the ONLY free ACT available. Students who plan to take an ACT on a Saturday must register for it themselves and pay a fee. See information below.)
     
• Registration:  All SME juniors have already been registered, so they do not need to do anything else.
  • Students may see a registration form in Skyward, but they do NOT need to complete it. (If they have already done so, it's fine.)
  • If you do not want to or will be unable to take the Tuesday, March 1st, ACT at SME, please contact counselor Traci Ybarra, traciybarra@smsd.org
     
• For opportunities to take the ACT for a $ fee, on a Saturday, you must register yourself online at ACT.  See information below.
