Welcome to Jostens. We will be working with your school SME next week 10/30/25 during Seminar/Advisory 10:20 -10:55 to help seniors order graduation products. Please watch the short video for important info and a schedule of events.

Pictures start at 7:00 AM and will conclude at 2:45 P.M.

ATTN ALL PARENTS: Support the Class of 2026 at their After Grad Party
For the past 13 years, the SME PTSA and the parents at Shawnee Mission East have put on a safe, drug and alcohol-free graduation party at SME following the graduation ceremony. It is intended to be a well-deserved celebration of our seniors’ achievements and acknowledgement of the years of hard work they put into completing their high school education. The After Grad party has a 99% attendance level by the Senior Class and the event includes dinner, games, various entertainment and raffle items.
To ensure the After Grad Party is a success, and with a long-standing tradition, we are relying heavily on the generosity of our local community as well as families at Shawnee Mission East. Please consider paying it forward so that when your student is a senior, they, too, can have a safe and wonderful celebration. Below are the levels suggested per class, but any donation is welcome and would be greatly appreciated.
$25.00 Freshman Families
$35.00 Sophomore Families
$40.00 Junior Families
$50.00 Senior Families

SENIORS LAST DAY - Senior Breakfast - Yearbook Day -TBDYEARBOOK DAY Grades Seniors TBD
YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION - Seniors will receive pick up yearbooks the morning of cap and gown pick up and rehearsal!

SM NORTH STADIUM- 7401 Johnson Drive, Overland Park, KS 66202
Gates Open at 5:00 P.M. with Programs
Shawnee Mission North High School Football Field Arena (unlimited guests)
In the case of inclement weather the ceremony will be in the North Fieldhouse (5 Tickets per student) will be given to each student on Senior Day) TBD
Golf Cart Shuttle to the fields will be available if needed at North.
GRADUATION IS 7:00 PM - TUESDAY MAY 19th at SM NORTH STADIUM
7401 Johnson Drive, Overland Park, KS 66202
STUDENTS - PLEASE arrive by 6:00 P.M. and report to the SMN Auditorium. Carpooling is best, but if you drive, please park in the WEST LOT - CLOSEST TO THE AUDITORIUM DOORS.
DO NOT PARK in the circle drive, which is reserved for district guests. Please do not be late! Procession to the field will begin from the auditorium at 6:40 PM SHARP (no exceptions).
Please remember your cap, gown, tassel, and any cords you have received from clubs/organizations. (This year, Honor cords will be distributed with your cap and gowns on SENIOR DAY "TBD" If you did not pick your cap and gown up Date TBD, we will have them in the auditorium. Once you find your row for line-up, you will receive a "READER CARD" with your name as it will be read. You are welcome to edit it by hand if you want your name to be read differently. DON'T LOSE IT. You will take it with you to your seat on the field and to the stage!

Please see the attached map. Green areas are open parking. NOTE: the front circle will be used for district guests so parking will be limited in that location. However, side streets may be closer to the field and all gates to the field will be open!
Inclement Weather
In the event of bad weather, graduation ceremonies will be held inside the SM NORTH Fieldhouse. Please watch your email for communications letting you know specifically where SME GRADUATION commencement will be. If ceremonies are moved inside, seating will be limited, and tickets will be required. Graduates each received 5 tickets at graduation rehearsal on DATE TBD. Please check with the office if tickets have not been picked up.

Special Needs Seating for Graduation Ceremony
Ground level seating is provided on both the East and West sides of the stadium field for visitors who need special accommodations. This is open, limited seating and seats are not assigned. Graduation Hosts will be available to assist visits with golf cards to these seats and will gladly see that they arrive and depart safely.
Grad Photos
Grad Images, the official photographer for graduation, will be taking photos of graduates as they cross the stage. You will receive an email with proofs within two weeks after graduation.
Diplomas
Diplomas will NOT be distributed at the ceremony. Diplomas can be picked up at EAST, beginning Wednesday May 20th, 2024 between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM in the office (Security Office). Seniors who have outstanding balances or fines will NOT receive their diplomas until settled. Please check with the bookkeeper, Joan Burnett, joanburnett@smsd.org
SENIORS – Join us for the AFTER GRADUATION PARTY
Join us for your 2026 Senior After Grad Party on Tuesday May 19th, 2026 immediately following graduation ceremonies at the SME MAIN GYM 8:30-12 Midnight. Please know that if you do not come directly from graduation, you will not be admitted. If you leave you will not be admitted. Student ID will be required. PTSA will be providing dinner, games, various entertainment, and raffle items.
We will end with a group picture and the school song. It will be an AMAZING night.
Please monitor your email carefully in the case of last-minute changes or announcements, as well as the senior webpage.

CALLING ALL PARENTS: SME PTA-2026 AFTER GRADUATION PARTY DONATION REQUEST

SME LANCER DAY PARADE INFO
- Parade Lineup at 12:30 P.M. in the parking lot
- Parade will start at 1:00 P.M.
- Parade Route is from the South Parking Lot >North on Mission Road>to the Village for the Pep Rally
- Students riding a bus will be given plenty of time to return to catch the normal bus schedule
- Lancer Day Football game is at 7 P.M. at SMS Stadium

PLEASE FIND Senior Ad Contracts on the website, as well as the link to purchase ads online.
If your student is wanting to submit their ad via paper, they will need to print out this contract and include it with their photos when brought to the main office bookkeeping with their check.
